Hello everyone, this week I will be talking about cold showers and how they can help you, based of research I did online and from personal experience. Before I begin, you should know that this article would be my last regular weekly post for around 2 months in view of my GCSE examinations in the next month and vacations after that. If I get time, I might be able to write articles, possibly in my normal style or the short style I am debuting today.
So, todays article, cold showers. Its something I learned about recently and decided to try it out. I indulge in a short cold shower at the end of a normal shower with warm water for about a minute or two, and this has lead me to have improved focus, less tiredness and better skin too. So I decided to research it more and write about it.
Cold showers, as defined by a water temperature below 20 ℃ , have been shown to offer a range of health benefits. One of the most notable benefits is the increase in endorphins, which are the body's natural painkillers and mood boosters. These endorphins can help relieve symptoms of depression, as demonstrated in a clinical trial where taking a cold shower for up to 5 minutes, 2 to 3 times per week, helped improve symptoms of depression.
Additionally, cold showers can improve your metabolism and circulation. By subjecting your body to cold water, your heart rate and blood flow will increase, causing your body to burn more calories to keep warm. This, in turn, can lead to an increase in metabolism.
Another benefit of cold showers is that they can make your circulatory system more efficient. The cold water causes your blood vessels to constrict, which can improve blood flow and circulation throughout the body. This improved circulation can also help improve the appearance of your skin, as more oxygen and nutrients are delivered to the skin cells.
So, how often should you take a cold shower? Two to three times per week for up to 5 minutes is a good place to start. If you find the idea of taking a cold shower daunting, start with warm water and gradually decrease the temperature. It's important to note that cold showers are not recommended for everyone, especially those with certain medical conditions. As stated before, this isn’t the regimen I go by as of now but I would trying this out and seeing how it works. It's always a good idea to consult with your healthcare provider before trying any new health regimen and something are not for everyone.
Edit: I tried a longer cold shower and I had the same benefits, just amplified
And thats it for this week. See you in the next one
